Ghostbusters’ actress Jennifer Runyon dead at 65

Actress Jennifer Runyon, best known for her role in the blockbuster Ghostbusters (1984), passed away at the age of 65 on March 6, 2026. Her family confirmed the news in a social media post on March 8, describing it as a “long and arduous journey” that ended with her surrounded by loved ones. The cause of death was cancer, following a battle lasting approximately six months (according to representatives and several sources such as Parade and Fox News).

Born on April 1, 1960, in Chicago, Jennifer Runyon began her acting career in 1980 with the horror film To All a Goodnight. She quickly rose to prominence in the 1980s with memorable supporting roles: the college student whose psychic abilities are “tested” by Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) in the opening scene of Ghostbusters – a classic comedic moment; and Gwendolyn Pierce in the first season of the sitcom Charles in Charge (18 episodes). and played Cindy Brady in the television series A Very Brady Christmas (1988). She continued to appear in Up the Creek (1984), Another World (as Sally Frame), Quantum Leap, and many other projects until recent years.

Jennifer finished her basketball coaching career with Todd Corman in 1991. They had two children: Wyatt and Bayley.
